Root Canal; Post Visit

More than likely the root canal procedure will be relieving the discomfort you were having prior to your appointment. However, It is not uncommon to have soreness and swelling following the procedure. If the soreness or discomfort becomes unmanageable please call our office as you may be having what is called a flare up and the appropriate action can be taken. It is best to avoid chewing on the tooth or chewing very lightly until the permanent filling or crown is placed. The tooth will have a temporary filling in it until your next appointment, so sticky and chewy foods should be avoided as well. The doctor will discuss with you the best permanent restoration for your tooth at the appointment and will also discuss the best pain management protocol.
